Subarachnoid hemorrhage headache from a developmental venous anomaly
Developmental venous anomaly (DVA, venous angioma) is the most often occuring cerebral vascular malformation, with an estimated incidence of 2, 5 % in autopsy series. In one third of patients coexisting other intracranial vascular malformations, predominantly cavernous angiomas (cavernomas) are found. The bleeding potential of DVAs is very low and when present, it is typically caused by malformations, and not the DVA. Only a few cases of haemorrhage in patienrs with DCA have been reported in absence of other vascular malformations and the vleeding was uniformly intraparenchimal. Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) related ro DVA without intraparenchymal haemorrhage has not been preciously reported.
