Tooth root stress analysis of a thin rim gear
The paper considers the influence of tooth force distribution along the gear width on the stress in tooth root of thin rim gear. The finite element method has been used for the numerical analysis of the under-lying physical problem. The obtained results are compared with the analytical results according to the DIN standard. The analysis starts with three dimensional models where various load cases due to different tooth force distribution are considered. The gear has its web thickness. Analyses are provided for various element types using two software packages (IDEAS and BERSAFE) for FEM.
