Comparison of the Exact Rotational-Symmetric Mindlin Plate Solutions with FEM Solutions Defined on a Rectangular Domain

For a circular linear elastic Mindlin plate loaded with constant distributed forces on a centered circular area the exact solution in closed form is known. The most commonly used form for plate benchmark tests is a square, so the part of the solution for the circular plate which corresponds to an inscribed square will be interpreted here as a solution of a quadratic plate. This plate has clamped edges for which displacement and rotations of the boundaries are prescribed, and the same loading as the circular plate. As an example of the comparison of the so constructed exact solution with a numerical solution, a FEM solution is presented.
