New Measuring System in Investigating Electrical Energy Processing Parameters in Garment Sewing Operations
New computer-aided measuring system is presented and described, used for determining all the electrical energy consumption parameters in garment sewing processes (KVP-1), as well as the appropriate software package (JNJ-1). The measuring system in all of its details was designed, constructed and calibrated in the Department of Clothing Technology, Faculty of Textile Technology, University of Zagreb. It is a unique product of the researchers in the Department, proving correlation of garment engineering processing parameters and electrical energy consumption. Necessary electrical power for various types of drive electrical motors was measured, as dependent upon the sewing machine main shaft rotational speed in joining multiple fabric layers, and electrical energy consumption, as dependent on the method of work applied, e.g. on the number of seam segments joined at different nominal stitching speeds. Results obtained by the new KVP-a measuring system were used to determine experimentally simultaneity coefficient, important in determining electrical energy consumption and designing electrical installations for electrical motors in garment manufacturing processes.
