Sažetak
Painting and sculpture of the 19th and 0th century in Slavonia has been a significant and integral part of Croatian as well as middle-European heratige production. During the 19th century and the main promotor, investitor and collector of art was the Slavnoan aristocracy, whose private collections consisted orderd primarly from European artists. Art was also purchesd and stmulated by some of the member of church clergy, like J.J. Storrmayer , and only from the beginning of the 20th century this role would gradualy pass on the civile burgeouise. In 1800 first public drawing school was founded in Osijek that by no meamns made a positive impact on the cultural and artistic life: many artists who got their first lessons there contued their education on the European universities. Up till today the painting and sculpture of 19th and 20th century has been studed by many art historians , curators, an experts from other relevant discilines. With the foundation of museums, the 20th century the research become professionalized and more intense. A better coordination among the local and national institutions, a critical analysisi of the existing scientific insights and an investment in further professional education af the experts in the future, would probably bring even better results.
