Genetic Instabilities of the E-cadherin gene (CDH1) in renal cell carcinoma
The role of tumor suppressor gene E-cadherin, CDH1 was investigated in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). D16S752 marker linked to E-cadherin gene (informativeness 91%) revealed 3 (7, 5%) LOH cases. Interestingly, in 9.1% of RCC samples replication error phenotype (RER+) was detected. Our results suggest that alterations in E-cadherin gene, are involved in evolution and progression of RCC. Microsatellite genetic instability of the E-cadherin gene indicates that another cellular mechanism, mismatch repair, may also be targeted in RCC.
