Adjustment Factor for Through and Left-turning Heavy Vehicles at Levelled Signalized Intersections

In final decade of the past century and particularly in the last few years, with constant and fast technical and technological growth, the mobility of people is enormous. Today's contemporary technical and technological achievements have changed the way of living and human behaviour, and they have established new conditions on the modes of information exchange, economy, trade and transportation. The private sector development of transport with large transport systems (freight vehicles) and everyday expansion of freight vehicles participation in the transport of goods are more and more obvious, especially in big cities. That has contributed to frequent traffic congestion, queues and delays on levelled signalized intersections. The article is just an attempt to identify how big is the influence of freight vehicles on the capacity of levelled signalized intersections, i.e. il that influence is different for through lines and left-turn lines at intersection approaches.

freight vehicles; adjustment factor; headway; levelled signalized intersection.
