Kant from Gödel's veiwpoint
The study of Kant's philosophy influenced to a large extent Gödel's philosophical views. Gödel saw Kant's conception of time confirmed by the theory of relativity, and at the same time, the dualism of things in themselves and appearances set aside. For Gödel, Kant is a forerunner of the phenomenological method of the description of basic concepts, which is needed, e.g., in building axiomatics of set theory and of ontology as well. On the other hand, Gödel thought it possible to overcome Kant's dualism of sensual perception and conceptual thinking, and to give ontological significance to merely postulative nature of immortality and God's existence in Kant's moral philosophy.
