The Use of stories in Teaching English to Early Graders
The paper deals with stories as an approach to language teaching to early graders. The theoretical part of the paper, based on the relevant literature, presents the organisation of discourse in stories, language use in stories and quality in stories. It also presents the ways of using stories and the tasks that might be developed around a story. The practical part of the paper presents the results of several analyses which were made on the basis of classroom observation, teaching material inspection and results of a questionnaire submitted to teachers who use stories in their teaching. The obtained results are discussed and conclusions made.
