Mycoflora of the treated winter wheat seeds in Eastern Croatia
First step in achieving high yield is healthy seed. During eight year study ten fungi genera (Fusarium, Alternaria, Penicillium, Cladosporium, Aspergillus, Bipolaris, Epiccocum, Trichothecium and Rhisopus) were identified on the treated winter wheat seed samples. Principle pathogens found out in wheat seeds were Fusarium species and the most prevalent was F. graminearum Schw. Fusarium graminearum constitued 89.27% of the isolates. Frequency of Alternaria tenuis C.G. Nees, most prevalent saprophyte was very high, in some years higher than frequency of Fusarium spp. but it is of small importance for wheat seed.
