Simulation Model of Train Movement in Small-radius Curves
The movement of trains along railway line curves is defined as lateral oscillating train-rail system. The simulation model of the system has been developed in MATLAB. In the small-radius curves and at maximum allowed speeds, the system could operate in extreme conditions, causing higher stresses of vehicles and railway lines and operates also at the upper limit of safety. Our goal is to study quantitatively the wear of the railway lines and trains, to study the riding safety and comfort what will be especially present once the tilt trains are introduced, when the lateral oscillations of the train become very significant. The simulation tool includes also the preparation of measuring and testing, since it enables obtaining exact results that may be expected in carrying out the real tests in real normal and extreme conditions, saving thus a lot of time and costs.
