Could new antihypertensive and lipid lowering drugs prevent second stroke?
Recently published data from large randomized clinical trials show that lowering of blood pressure and elevated cholesterol reduction is associated with significsnt decrease in stroke risk. Besides blood pressure and cholesterl lowering it seems that the use of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, calcium antagonists and statins could provide some addditional beneficial effects.
