Correlation of mechanical characteristics of concrete measured on speciments drilled from the construction
Specimens were drilled from reinforced concrete columns, which were a part of a dock for small ships and were under the water for approximately 20 years. Applied experimental methods in order to assess the state and the quality of concrete are a combination of destructive and non-destructive methods. Hammer test method and ultrasonic pulse velocity method, which were carried out “ in situ” , are non-destructive methods. The same tests were carried out later on drilled specimens in laboratory. Destructive methods are determination of concrete compressive strength and modulus of elasticity on drilled specimens by a compression test. This paper shows the results of the experimental testing on 18 specimens from the entire group of 60 drilled specimens on which all mentioned destructive and nondestructive tests were carried out.
