Computation of Contact Caustics

The experimental optical method of caustics, established in fracture mechanics, can be also applied to analyze the real contact force between two mechanical parts. The simulations of optical effects have been realized consequently for the contact problem and the fracture mechanics problem by using the program package MATLAB. The cloud of points illustrates the light distribution around the dark spot and is used to evaluate the experimental caustics.
