PV Application for Rural Dwelling in Dalmatia Region
A modern concept of self-sufficient dwelling in Mediterranean area is presented. Unlike utility connected house, stand alone house must balance every aspect of energy consumption, including energy consumption of freshwater and wastewater systems. Passive architectural design substantially reduces the need for additional heating, cooling and daylighting. Energy requirements are further reduced with recuperation of hot water and ventilation air energy and utilization of LPG as a fuel for heat appliances. Solar energy, produced in PV cells, provides a major part of electric energy, and a major part of heat is produced in solar collectors. Micro cogeneration, simultaneously producing both heat and electric energy, is able to meet the rest of the energy demand, especially in winter when solar energy is less abundant.
