The milk flow curve of bovine in the prevention decrease of the somatic cell counts of milk

Milk flow curve studies and its application within the selection of cattle are expanding towards the higher number of European countries. The researches made in Croatia have shown the existence of the relationship between the milk flow curve and the number of the somatic cell. At a short sustained incline (dIFR < 0, 40 min) and the high quotient between the peaks flow rate and the sustained decline (QPD > 1, 20) there was the lowest number of the somatic cell counts in milk (LSCC = 3, 47, respectively 3, 30). This kind of relationship is an acceptable one and the reason is that with its increase the peak flow rate is prolonged and the sustained decline is shortet. With the correlation coefficients we have the possibility to improve milk ability through breeding where we could decrease the somatic cell counts in milk through the prolongation of the peak flow rate (r = -0, 25), the reduce of the sustained incline and the sustained decline (r = 0, 05). Through the breeding selection we could make a selection of bull fathers and mothers which would have the most desirable shape of the milk flow curve and the duration of the individual milking phase depending on the lowest number of somatic cells in milk.
