Chamomillae flos – o vrednovanju droge i njezinog ekstrakta
Seven samples of chamomile flowers collected from various parts of Yugoslavia were examined. The content of aethereal oil in the drug was determined according to Ph. Yug. IV. The extract was obtained from all samples according to Ph. Yug. IV. and the content of aethereal oil in it was also determined. The identification of the extract was performed by means of thin layer chromatography. The analysis of aethereal oil from Chamomillae flos, aethereal oil from Chamomillae extractum and from Chamomillae extractum fluidum was done by gas chromatography. The quantity of aethereal oil is not the right parameter for drug evaluation. It turned out that samples with high quantity of aethereal oil contain a small amount of bisabolol or dicycloaethers. These components are essential for antiflogistic and spasmolytic activity of chamomile. The content of camazulene was not significant in these samples. On the other hand, some samples with lower content of aethereal oil contained a high amount of bisabolol and dicycloaethers
