Influence of steel structure on erosion resistance of boronised layer
The article shows exploration stability of boronised layer in erosion-corrosion media. Boronise was done through the diffusion of Boron (B) from the solid mixture that contented KBF4, B4C and SiC in metal. Depends on substratum in which Boron has diffused different behaviours of boronised layer have been seen. The main role on erosion resistance had the carbon wall (C-wall). Depends on alloyed elements C-wall changed its structures (grain size, layer depth, depth of characteristics roots of boronised surface) and the other appearances that have influenced on steel stability. The exploration was done on carbon unalloyed steels and steels that contented V, Mn, Co and other additives in omitted percentage. Morphological structure of boronised surfaces and influence of high temperatures (950°) on schedule of new layers till the metal core were monitored. Through the exploration the following conclusion were confirmed: C-wall depended on amount of carbon in metal, alloyed elements changed the steel structure till the metal core. Erosion, erosion-corrosion and corrosion wear of specimens confirmed that quality of boronised layer was depended on the new steel structure and its wear resistance in aggressive media, as well.
