The Impact of war on Tourism: The Case of Croatia

Several articles have examined the impact of war on tourism. Most of these articles have shown that war has a negative impact in the short run, although in the long run war may have a positive impact as it attracts additional tourists to the scene of the war. In this study we use a regression model to examine the economic cost of war on Croatia due to the decline in tourism. We use the dummy variable approach to derive two regression equations fot the war period and the pre/postwar periods. Our results also support analysis by other researchers that a decline in tourism following a crisis tends to decay over a four or five year period.
