Holland's model in Croatia: Adequacy of RIASEC hexagonal structure and relation to postulated value dimensions
Croatian version of Holland's SDS and VS-Value Scale was administered to a sample of high-school students (N=827) 16 to18 years old. Adequacy of RIASEC structure was calculated by correspondence index. Further adequacy of Holland’ s theory was investigated by defining work values that are characteristic of RIASEC types. Attribution of values was provided through ANOVA and regression models. Correspondence index for this sample is CI=0.82 and shows high similarity with hypothetic hexagonal structure. Values attributed to different RIASEC types are mostly correspondent to Holland’ s theoretical expectations. For Realistic, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional types almost all predicted work values are correctly attributed. Investigative type is not so adequately described by expected values but it is correspondent with postulated general value orientations. It’ s concluded that Holland’ s theory is clearly adequate career guidance concept for Croatian students, showing the expected hexagonal structure of interests and adequate work values related to RIASEC personality types
