Effect of distant group on the enantioselectivity in kinetic resolution of sec-alkohols catalyzed by microbial lipases
A short series of racemic phenoxyalkyl-alkylcarbinols, possessing perturbing groups at different distances from the stereogenic center was prepared. The enantioselecitvity of their acetylation by viniylacetate catalyzed by microbal lipases in n-hexane was determined. Twenty lipases from commercial sources were screened for their enantioselectivity; for two lipase with broadest substrate selecivity Geotrichum candidum (GCL) and Candida cyclindracea (CCL), non-monotonous correlation between E-value and the distance (n) of the perturbing group was observed.
