Optimal Solution to the Wear of Turbine Pump Parts
Vertical turbine pumps have frequently been used in power plants. In the type of these pumps with sleeve rubber bearings for vibration absorption, for the purpose of corrosion resistance the shaft journals are protected by brass or corrosion resistant steel sleeves. When such pumps are used for pumping river water, the problem arises of the wear of shaft sleeves by abrasion in the stuffing box and sleeve rubber bearings thus causing direct (maintenance) and indirect losses (delays). To decrease the direct and indirect costs caused by abrasion wear a tribological measure of depositing coatings resistant to abrasion wear by flame spraying is suggested. To solve the problem of the wear with minimum costs of flame spraying, some variants of spraying limited to the coatings resistant to abrasion wear and thickness of such coatings are considered.
