A TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGY FROM ACADEMY TO INDUSTRY AN EXAMPLE: INTERNET-BASED EXPERT SYSTEM FOR FRESHWATER FISH-FARMING
The connections between the academy and industry in Croatia are far from ideal, and also far from how they could be. Although thought as complementary, these two sides very often act quite contrary. This paper makes an attempt to identify some common patterns in the behavior of both sides that often generate obstacles during negotiations and while the collaboration is going on. The standpoint of the paper is that both sides should be interested in creating new partnerships, which includes initiation of new joint projects ; transfer of new technologies, continuous development of knowledge-based potentials at both sides, as well as elaboration of efficacious strategies that would lead to new products and services. In order to illustrate more realistically our standpoint we describe a joint academy-industry project of the Internet-based expert system for the freshwater fish-farming industry.
