Simulation Tool for Coordination of Protective Relays in Distribution Networks

This paper presents a software tool for digital protection relays simulation and coordination. EasyPower PowerProtector software is used for simulation and relay setting in educational process at Faculty of electrical engineering, University of Osijek. Protective relay coordination for 3-phase fault and a single line-to-ground fault on different selected buses for small real distribution network is presented. Digital ABB relays series REF, SPAJ and SPAC were used for short-circuit and overcurrent protection. The results of analysis indicate correct selectivity of overcurrent protection devices for small 35 kV distribution network sample case.
