A pathological condition caused by combined severe infestation of a roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) with bot flies and lungworms
In the July 2003 female roe deer was shot as a part of sanitary selection, due to its poor condition. Necropsy revealed severe infestation of upper respiratory tract with bot flies, as well as the presence of lungworms. The histopathological analysis showed pneumonia, pharyngitis, enteritis, and accumulation of the mononuclear cells along the blood vessels of the brain. According to parasitological observations, bot flies were determined as Cephenemyia spp. and lungworms as Muellerius capillaris.
