Sažetak
Due to its simplicity (simple analog but very complex digital part) and noise-shaping characteristics (quantization noise shift to out of band frequencies), delta sigma modulation (DSM) is today widely used as architecture of high-resolution A/D converters. In some applications DSM output 1-bit words are directly used for 1-bit D/A conversion, but in ordinary A/D and DSP applications its 1-bit should be converted to m-bit word (8 to 24 bits) and decimated to much lower rates. This article describes simple, but efficient circuits for conversion/decimation of 1-bit DSM to m-bit PCM word. Experimental results are obtained from the circuit modelled in FLEX AlteraTM PLD.
