Vessel underwater acoustic noise
In the real circumstances each vessel has its own underwater acoustic field. This field is in the sea mass around the vessel and is the source of the vessel underwater acoustic noise. It is assumed that the vessel underwater acoustic noise is a sum of a Gaussian stochastic process and a finite number of sine waves. The Gaussian stochastic process, due to the cavitation of the vessel propeller, has wide-band spectrum. The sine waves, due to vessel operating machinery, mechanisms and propeller, have narrow-band spectra. These two parts of the vessel underwater acoustic noise are mutually statistically independent. Time, statistical and frequency characteristics of the vessel underwater acoustic noise are considered.
