Electroanalysis of copper(II) in aquatic systems
The results of extensive experimental research on the reproducibility and possibilities of determination of dissolved Cu(II) by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) will be discussed in details. Electroanalysis of dissolved Cu(II) in artificial model systems, which indicates critical concentration of dissolved ionic forms, will be compared with the results of the natural water samples, both freshwater and seawater samples. The DPASV method is very suitable for the determination of dissolved Cu(II) in the concentration range between 10-6 and 10-9 Cu(II) using mercury drop electrode (MDE-1, mAutolab, Eco-Chemie, Utrecht). The influence of the composition of macrocomponents of the "supporting electrolyte", such as hydrogen ions (pH ť 8) and other ions present in natural waters (Cl-, HCO3-/CO32-, etc.), on the DPASV signal of dissolved Cu(II), will be elaborated and critically discussed.
