Characterization of the deposit on the surface of the flame/gas fuel section on steam superheater tube

In the course of operation of steam boiler fly partiocles become precipitated along the flame/gas fuel section of the boiler tube surface. At elevated temperatures the ash particles melt generating a deposit of undefined phase composition and thickness. The deposit directly affects radiant heat transfer, mechanical tube properties and the boiler operational efficiency. Samples for analysis were pieces of the steam superheater tube cut off from the tube wall and prepared maetallographically. Powdered samples were ground and homogenized in Spex - type mixer mill and manually in an agate mortar.
