Influence of liming on maize under drought stress

In this study were shown response of corn to liming with carbocalk (waste from sugar factory). The growing season 2000 was especially unfavorable for maize growing becouse of strong drought stress. Under these conditions corn grain yields were as follows: 3.97 t/ha (control), 4.47 t/ha (carbocalk 15 t/ha), and 7.98 t/ha (carbocalk 30 t/ha). At the some time, female-sterile plants contribution decreased from 41.9% (control) to 6.7% (carbocalk 30 t/ha).
