Comparison of Champ and GRACE geoid models with Croatian HRG2000 geoid
Latest Croatian geoid solution HRG2000 and CHAMP and GRACE global geopotential geoid models EIGEN-2 (CHAMP), EIGEN-01S (GRACE), GGM01S (GRACE) and GGM01C (GRACE) are compared. Orientation and long wave structure of the HRG2000 geoid is judged using CHAMP and GRACE models, while HRG2000 is used to judge the resolution of the global CHAMP and GRACE models over the Croatian territory. Since the global EGM96 model was used for the calculation of HRG2000 solution, its long wave structures are analyzed too. Main statistical characteristics of geoid differences are showing the best agreement between HRG2000 and GGM01C (GRACE) model. Their geoid differences are oscillating between -0.3 m and 2.5 m with the fluctuation of 0.46 m around the average difference of 1.20 m. The average difference originates from the existing vertical shift between the Croatian and the global vertical datum. As the new global geopotential models like CHAMP and GRACE are representing better the long and medium wave gravity filed structures at the investigated area than the older global geopotential models, they will be certainly used for the computation of new Croatian geoid solutions in the near future.
