The research wanted to establish the possibilities of the improvement of udder health in relation at the parameter milk flow curve. The width of the sucking channel is one of the most important factors which conditions the speed of the milk flow. This anatomic relationship can influence the health of the udder. Bacterial invasion to the milk gland very often occurs through the sucking of the udder. Therefore, we can foresee that the greater number of the somatic cell count will occur with the cows with a higher speed of milk flow. Those cows with a lower milk flow (“ hard” at the milking) or with irregular udder quarters have the inclination towards the inflammation of one or more udder quarters because of the rhythm of the milking machine. The results of the research have shown that 22, 1% of the cows had a rectangular shape of the curve, as a desirable one. At that point the number of the somatic cell count in milk was the lowest (LBSS=3, 63), the milking time was short (tGFM=3, 37 and tSFM=1, 42 min) and the milk flow rate was average (MPM=4, 59 and PPM=3, 19 kg/min). The research confirms the existence of the relations of the milk flow curve parameters and udder health. With the breeding selections work it would be possible to make a selection of bull fathers and mothers that would have the most desirable shape of the milk flow curve where the somatic cell count in milk would be the lowest.
