Electrical Properties of Zn/(PEO)8ZnCl2/[V2O5-CeO2(at 38% at. of V)] ; SnO2:F Thin Film Galvanic Cells

Galvanic cells Zn/(PEO)8ZnCl2/[V2O5-CeO2 (at 38 at. % of V)] ; SnO2:F have been formed. Intercalation cathode was V2O5-CeO2 thin film prepared via the sol-gel process dip-coated onto SnO2:F glass plate. Polymer electrolyte foil Zn/(PEO)8ZnCl2 has been placed on top of V2O5-CeO2 ; SnO2:F double film. Zn thin film anodes have been contacted on top of all these layers. Charge-discharge cycles with a constant current were performed. The influence of nanosize TiO2 grains and the effect of g-radiation on polymer electrolyte were studied by cycling voltammetry (CV) and impedance spectroscopy (IS). Both treatments largely enhanced the conductivity of polymer electrolytes, but did not improve the performance of the cells. The reason for this is in deterioration of cohesion and elasticity of irradiated film and additional oxidation and reduction processes induced by TiO2 nano-particles requiring further optimisations of electrolyte and electrodes properties.
