Creating ROC by Altering Classification Rule
To create ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristics) it is often necessary to repeat measurements for each ROC point, with different system settings. This paper presents method for determining ROC from single set of measurements. That is achieved by changing classification boundaries between classes of interest, where each boundary gives one ROC point. Method of changing classification boundaries is described for two classifiers: Bayes classifier and backpropagation feed-forward neural network. Experimental results are presented for two data sets: sonar data for rock and mine-like object, and data from acoustic prodder.
