Scaled Simulation of Radio Propagation Channel
The aim of this paper is to test the suitability of efficient simulation of radio channel measurements by minimized or scaled geometrical models. This is intended for situations where measurements are needed to validate developed propagation prediction models or even other radio design tasks that include assessments of multipath influence or shadowing, but for some reasons there are no possibilities to conduct them in real environment. A case of simple channel model based on "ray-tracing" and Uniform Geometrical Theory of Diffraction was exploited in order to discuss whether scaled measurements collide with predictions produced by theoretical modelling. This case of radio propagation had been wide-band analysed via procedure based on Fourier Transform, which is followed by comparison of measured and predicted example of an impulse response. It has been concluded that there will be no serious practical limitations for scaling procedure in order to validate results of the model if electric-to-geometry ratio remains constant.
