Microeconomics analysis of fundamental phenomena of urban traffic

The subject of the microeconomic analysis in this scientific discussion is the phenomenon of urban traffic, in other words, those economic variables that the effectiveness of traffic flowing through the cities directly and significantly depends on. Modified economic structure and considerable importance of economic activities settled in the cites point out the urban traffic as well as suitable traffic structure as one of the basic factors in the sucess of numerous economic activities in the cities. One of the basic problems in microeconomic analysis is the analysis of the forces of supply and demand. The balance between supply and demand in urban traffic, especially on the particular urban routes, is the key to the solution of the poblem of urban traffic. Besides the factors which determine supply and demand in urban traffic, the subject of microeconomic analysis are also the factors which determine the maximum flow of vehicles or transport capacity of a route. Tha main aim of this scientific paper is to point to possibilities of better use of capacities as well as human potential of traffic firms in urban traffic. In order to ensure the application of the obtained theoretical achievements of this scientific debate, it will be considerably based on the practical examples and the characteristics of the urban traffic in the city of Rijeka.
