Socio-andragogical method in treatment of alcoholism. Sociological epistemological analysis

The socio-andragogical method as a system was developed on the basis of Hudolin`s complex procedure in the treatment of alcoholism, based on the idea of the creative relation towards oneself: his purpose is not only "rehabilitation", "restitutio ad integrum", "recovery", "resocialization", but achieving such an art of living to enable the individual to raise from bottom to the "elite". The described methods represent only the technique of the way from the robbery of dependence to the mastery over oneself. The patient`s situation changes from the position of the incapable perticipant through the collaborating position to the participation in partnership, by using the expert`s help. The idea of therapeutic pact in its essence promotes the model of participation in partnership. Investigating Rugelj`s system, we have come to a very specific problem as investigators: the problem of epistemiology and the problem of terminology. Especially medical terminology depends on semantic fluctuations, and different realities about illness or therapeutic procedures can be expressed inside identical notions. In this case most of the terminology we had wanted to use, as in traditional psychiatric practice, including also progressive orientations and antipsychiatry, did not correspond to the reality of the procedures applied to ATC (Alternative Therapeutic Community). Even author himself has got difficulties in expressing his approach in old terminology. This relates to the definition of the whole project, in which the notion, "alternative therapeutic community" sounds too psychotherapeutic and too "alternative".
