Professional artistic activity often results in specific health problems. Dealing with these problems demands superior knowledge of biomechanics, physiology and psychology of the artist's organism during the creation of an artwork. The concept of arts medicine includes medical and scientific aspects applicable to every branch of art. It tries to understand and explain artistic performance and, through the study of movement, physiology and ergonomics related to specific branches of art, to emphasize the necessity of prevention of various complaints searching for the most suitable therapies for artists.
