FasL molecule is up-regulated in the epidermis of psoriatic lesion
The role of cell-mediated cytotoxicity in psoriasis is not yet understood. Cytotoxic CD8+ cells mediate cytotoxic reactions mainly by two different pathways, perforin/granzyme and Fas/FasL pathway while CD4+ T cells preferentially use Fas/FasL system. In the present study we analyzed FasL expression in both, epidermis and dermis, of lesional psoriatic skin (n=9), non-lesional psoriatic skin (n=9) and healthy control (n=8) by immunohistochemistry using biotin-streptavidin-peroxidase method.
