The Justinianic Sculpture at Pula: A Reconsideration
The paper discusses several well preserved chancel panels in the Cathedral of Pula and Archaeological museum of Pula. The slabs are analyzed and interpreted within the corpus of early Byzantine, 6th century stone production in the town of Pula, in Istria and the Adriatic region. The analysis has raised the uestion and problem of their original ubication, provenance and relation to the sculptural activity in Ravenna.
