Competitiveness and the Croatian transport cluster

In developed countries, with an increasing number of companies abandoning national orientation in their operations and turning toward the world market, as an integral market, the need has arisen for long-term forms of cooperation among companies in order to achieve competitiveness. Transport enterprises in the Republic of Croatia in the phase of transition, growth and development are confronted with great challenges that are the consequence of the globalization process. The development of the Croatian transport cluster warrants particular attention because it makes possible the conquest of new markets and the introduction of the newest technologies. The experiences of the development of cluster models in some countries of the European Union (Italy, Austria) and our neighboring Slovenia can serve as the basis for the building of a Croatian transport cluster with the goal of achieving competitiveness and internationalization. Market leaders, i.e. enterprises, enter into various forms of partnership that attempt to react appropriately under the conditions of global hyper competition. Therefore, the need arises for new organizational forms and the use of joint resources in order to facilitate innovation and an entrepreneurial atmosphere. The new forms and modalities are based upon strong internationalization that requires an organizational approach to the penetration and implementation of the Croatian transport cluster as a long-term strategy, with the goal of a sustainable competitive advantage as a specific guarantee of their commercial future. Building and constantly increasing competitiveness in order to achieve the developmental goals are the basic tasks of management.
