Kinetic analysis of isothermal crystallization of low-carnegieite from precipitated amorphous aluminosilicate precursor
Kinetics of the isothermal crystallization of orthorhombic modification of low-carnegieite from precipitated amorphous aluminosilicate precursor, at three different temperatures, were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy and scanning-electron microscopy. Kinetic analyzes of the transformation/crystallization processes have shown that the crystallization of low-carnegieite occurs by homogeneous nucleation of low-carnegieite inside the matrix of amorphous aluminosilicate precursor and diffusion-controlled, one-dimensional growth of the nuclei. The consequence of the one-dimensional crystal growth is the formation of the needle-shaped crystals of low-carnegieite. The apparent activation energy of the transformation/crystallization process is determined.
