Weldability analysis based on probabilistic approach to reliability and weakening of welded joints
By using probabilistic approach and reliability models it is possible to quantify and to tie together terms: reliability, classes, weldability (efficiency) and weakening of welded joints. Use of the probabilistic "Strength-Stress" model has been demonstrated for quantification of above listed values to express them as numerical robability, that reflects better real behavior of welded joints than code required factors. The deterministic values of weld joint effiviency factor and safety factor being used in design calculation may also be interrelated with quantified values of weldability and reliability, weld classes and weldability analysis and determination are being proposed for practical application in R&D and educational activities.
