Anthropogenetic (Micro)evolution of Adriatic Isolates - Problems and Perspectives
The results anthropogenetic studies performed on Eastern Adriatic populatiopns during the last thirty years will be presented. (Micro)evolution models based on holistic analytic approach will be considered using different historical, demographic and linguistic characteristic of these populations as well as mono and polygenetically detrmined biological variables (erythrocyte antigens, serum proteins, isoenzymes, DNA markers: VNTR, HLA class I and II, STR, mtDNA and chromosome Y: STR and biallelic polymorphisms, and a number of complex traits). Potential practical application of anthropogenteic research in biology and biomedicinewill be also discussed.
