Using indicators of child well-being in Croatia
This paper gives an overview of various research data and programmes for children and young people. Situational analysis of the state of children in Croatia during the last decade is presented. Special emphasis is given to the description of the changing social context that determined priorities in actions for children and the shift of interest for various indicators of children’ s well-being. The early forms of humanitarian assistance were soon supplemented with a range of programmes that addressed the changing needs of children. The consequences of war and economic changes on children's well-being regarding their health, nutrition, housing, education, poverty, participation and rights are described. Central themes and topics included into national plans of action for children and youth are discussed and some important topics for future work are emphasised.
