Critical Weight of Antenna-Column in Design of Wireless Traffic Network

The paper deals with the elastic stability of an antenna-column of continuously varying cross-section subjected to the action of its own weight as a distributed axial load. The determination of the critical weight is based on the solution to the governing differential equation of the column in the form of Maclaurin’ s series with a rapid convergence acquired by the introduced substitution. The quality of the employed method is comparable with the quality of determination of the critical axial compressive force of the columns of negligible own weight, with the same geometries, through solving the governing differential equation by means of Bessel functions.
