Topology of wireless local networks in the function of traffic system operators
The traffic system operators unify in their organisation structures the functions of traffic and electrical-technical maintenance. Wireless local networks play a very important role for the maximally efficient performance of these functions. The work presents three groups of wireless LANs and these include: infrared LAN, LAN with spread spectrum, and radio LANs. There are three topologies of infrared LANs (with directed radiation, omni-directional radiation and diffusion radiation). Regarding infrared LANs the cell is limited to one room, since infrared radiation does not penetrate through the walls, floors or ceilings. LANs with spread spectrum operate in the range of frequencies called ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band. The radio LANs use narrow-band microwave radiation. Some of them operate in ISM frequency range, and others operate in the ranges that require operation license. The work also presents the comparison model of wireless LAN technologies.
