Teaching and education lead to a better status for women- a reality or a dream?
This paper deals with status of women in society. Emphasis is placed on the fact that, despite the proclaimed humanistic principles, women are still in a subordinate position. Namely there are numerous indices, some easly recognizable and many hiden, pointing tu the unqual position og women. Most often, the unequal postion of women is justified by biological determinism, namely that the unequal postion of women is the result of Mother Nature and the role women play in procreation (pregnancy, parturition, lactation and post-natal care.These are the factors that limit womens participation in public life. Teaching and education can play a significant role in the creation of such social conditions and one the prerequisities is the redefining of educational goals.
