Application of methods: Inverse distance weighting, ordinary kriging and collocated cokriging in porosity evaluation, and comparison of results on the Beničanci and Stari Gradac fields in Croatia

The porosity evaluation results acquired through the application of three methods have been compared - Inverse Distance Weighting method, Ordinary Kriging and Collocated Cokriging. Ordinary Kriging and Collocated Cokriging are geostatistic methods. The methods were tested on two data groups represented by mean porosity values on the wells for the observed fields. One group includes the values from the breccia reservoir on Beničanci field, while the second one includes the values from the clastic reservoir on Stari Gradac field. Both fields are situated in Drava Depression. The accuracy of the acquired results is determined by the geological evaluation of the isoporosity lines shape and the calculation of the mean square error (MSE). The best solutions were acquired by Collocated Cokriging method. Ordinary Kriging produced better results than Inverse Distance Weighting method, but it was used on a case where the application of mathematically simpler method, on the same data group, gives better results.
