Diabetic microangyopathi-effect on the treatment outcome of burn injury
Microvascular complications are often neglected at the evaluation of general status and organ reserve in the treatment of various intercurrent diseases and conditions. The treatment of burns is a great challenge particularly in patients with compromised functional reserve due to a number of associated discases , of which some significantly affect the final treatment outcome. Long lasting diabetes with irreversible damage of microcirculation represents a significant risk for health and survival of patients treated for burn injury, even in the case of mild to moderate burns.Permanent impairment of microcirculation results in insufficient tissue perfusion, and it impedes the necessery adjustment of cardiovascular system in sepsis, SIRS and MODS.
